The name ‘Tan and Dowr’ is inspired by the Cornish words for “heat” and “water,” which are at the heart of what we offer.
Our mobile sauna is a unique fusion of two passions: recovery and craftsmanship, created by Jimmy Stevens, a local St. Ives man with a deep connection to this stunning part of Cornwall.
Jimmy’s journey began as a professional rugby player, where recovery was a crucial part of his routine. After retiring from the sport, he turned to carpentry and began to explore new ways to support his well-being. Combining his love for the physical recovery process and his skills in woodworking, Jimmy designed and built a mobile sauna and cold plunge to bring the benefits of heat and water therapy to others.
Located at the picturesque Ayr Holiday Park, with breathtaking views across St. Ives Bay, Tan and Dowr offers a truly immersive and rejuvenating experience. Whether you’re unwinding after a day of exploring Cornwall or simply looking to relax in nature, our mobile sauna is the perfect place to reset your body and mind.
At Tan and Dowr, we’re not just about providing a service — we’re about sharing a passion. Jimmy’s personal journey into recovery and his craft come together to offer a space where you can reconnect with yourself, find calm, and experience the healing power of heat and cold.
There are many ways to experience the Tan And Dowr sauna and cold plunge experience including 30 minute and 60 minute sessions, private group sessions for 7 people and our monthly membership packages.
Join us at Tan and Dowr, where the magic of Cornwall’s natural beauty meets the art of recovery, all in a handcrafted, mobile sanctuary.
